About the Class

Join us for an immersive, hands-on Bird Taxidermy Class where you'll learn the step-by-step process of mounting a European Starling. This class is designed for beginners and students of all skill levels. You’ll leave with a completed closed-wing European Starling mount to proudly display at home!


What’s Included:

  • A professionally skinned European Starling
  • A hand-carved Starling mannequin (you will create this during the class)
  • Glass bird eyes, and all other necessary materials for mounting your bird

By the end of the class, you’ll have a a finished mount on a wood base to take home. You'll learn essential techniques, including:

  • Bird skin and form preparation
  • Eye placement and sewing techniques
  • Positioning, feather preening, and mounting to a base

Class Details:

  • No Experience Necessary:
    No prior experience is required, and this class is designed for all skill levels. Gloves and all necessary tools will be provided. While no experience is necessary, we recommend taking our Small Mammal Class as a precursor for a more foundational understanding.

  • Photography & Recording:
    No photography, video, or audio recording is allowed during the class. However, you’re welcome to take photos of your finished work and the studio once the class has concluded.

  • Tardiness:
    Students arriving 15 minutes or more after the class start time will not be allowed to join. Please make sure to arrive on time.

  • Rescheduling & Cancellations:
    There are no refunds or rescheduling for students who cancel, miss, or arrive late to class. If you need to reschedule, a $50 fee applies if done 48 hours or more before the class start time. For more details, see the Reschedule a Class option on our Class Sign-Up page. No exceptions.

  • Class/Age Restrictions:
    Students aged 13 and up are welcome. Students under 18 must be dropped off by a parent or guardian. All participants must work on their own project—no seat sharing or splitting of pieces. Only students are allowed in the studio during classes. 

  • BYOB:
    Feel free to bring your own beverages to the class!

  • Ethical Practices:
    No animals are killed for taxidermy. All animals used are ethically sourced, and we will review our sourcing process in class.
