A tahr is a large, wild ungulate (hoofed mammal) closely related to the the wild goat, and native to the Himalayan mountains of India, Nepal, and Tibet. Known for their thick, shaggy coats and incredible climbing ability on near-vertical cliffs, they are herbivores that live in high-altitude herds. Males grow a thick, luxurious, mane-like coat in winter to protect against freezing temperatures, similar to a lion's mane.
