•In this taxidermy class, students will skin and mount their own mouse or small rat. Each student will leave the class with their own finished taxidermy mount. Class cost includes all materials including specimen, an anatomically correct rat mannequin (approx 4 inches tall), glass eyes, a wood base, etc. Class size is limited to 4 students per class for each student to receive maximum step-by-step attention from the instructor to obtain the best end results. Glass domes to protect your creation will be available for purchase at the class for an additional $50. A select amount of props will be provided free of charge by the instructor for those interested in anthropomorphizing their taxidermy (giving human characteristics/activities). Students are welcome to bring their own props. There is no photography, video, or audio recording allowed during class, but taking photos of your finished work and the studio space is permitted at the end of the class.
•Those who are 15 minutes or later to their class will not be able to join the class and forfeit their seat. There are no refunds for classes and no rescheduling for students who cancel, miss, or are late to their class. There is a $50 rescheduling fee if you need to reschedule 48 hours or more before the class start time. See the “Reschedule a Class” option on our Class Sign-Up page for more info. There are no exceptions to these policies. All classes are BYOB if you like. Students age 13 and up are welcome to join, however those under age 18 will need to be dropped off by a parent or guardian when arriving to the class. Parents, family members, etc who are not paid students are unable to remain in the studio during the class.
•Please note: All butterfly and moth classes are scheduled to occur on the same date as our taxidermy classes, with a half hour in-between classes, for those interested in taking both. No former experience is required. No harsh or dangerous chemicals are used. Everyone will be provided with gloves. No animals are killed for the sake of taxidermy.
